Type 1 diabetes looks like meat?

My eating disorder wasn’t ideal. My eating disorder is far from something I wish for in life.
I thought that I had control over everything, but looking back, I had no control at all. I lost friends, came further away from my family, I almost lost my work. I prioritized working out instead and the worst part–I lost myself. I didn’t know who I was or who I was supposed to be.

Before your diagnosis of diabetes, it is likely that you experienced extreme thirst. It is a good idea to avoid sugary drinks and fruit juices as a way of quenching your thirst. They usually put blood glucose levels up very high and very quickly – which is why they can be a useful treatment for a hypo (low blood glucose levels).

What do you normally eat? If the answer includes some carbohydrate at each meal then really there is nothing more to consider for now – but try to go with healthier carb options, and be aware of your portion sizes.

I have type 1 diabetes – what can I eat

People with type 1 diabetes do not produce insulin, and as a result sugar builds up in the blood instead of going into the cells, where it’s needed for energy. In type 1 diabetes, high blood sugar causes symptoms like thirst, hunger, and fatigue and can cause devastating consequences, including damage to the nerves, blood vessels, and internal organs. The same scary complications of diabetes appear in type 2 as well. The difference is that people with type 2 diabetes still produce insulin; their bodies just become less sensitive to it over time, which is what causes the complications.

I know that we still are lacking information sharing when another girl just like me is hospitalized for anorexia after not receiving any help in dosing the right amount of insulin to the food she needs to eat.

My journey has been long and tough. It took a long time to realize who my real friends were and to see that they tried to help me while I just pushed them away. That my family was trying to help me and that I had the best support. Today, it is so clear to me how afraid I was. I remember crying myself to sleep, and waking up, still crying. But with all the help I got, I’ve got the energy to keep on going and to recover.

It is a good idea to include some carbs with your meals as, without carbohydrate, your insulin may cause blood glucose levels to drop too low. Choose healthier carbs such as wholegrains, starchy foods, fruit and veg, pulses, unsweetened yogurt and milk, nut and seeds.
